As night falls in Tekes county in Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Jiugongcheng Park transforms into a fantastic ice and snow world, with its traditional folk street, parade of decorated floats and boutique guesthouses attracting numerous visitors. With winter sports gaining momentum across China, Xinjiang is leveraging its prolonged winter, high-quality snow and diverse terrains to establish top-notch ski resorts.

Two major ice and snow tourism belts have emerged along the Tianshan and Altay mountain ranges, and Xinjiang currently boasts 188 ice and snow venues, including 101 ski resorts.

BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Heavy snowfall has enveloped some areas of central and eastern China since Wednesday, leading to transport disruption amid the ongoing Spring Festival travel rush.

The National Meteorological Center on Sunday renewed an orange alert for snowstorms in some parts of China, predicting heavy snow in provinces including Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu and Shandong.

In the eastern province of Anhui, over 95 highway toll stations have refused entry to vehicles as of Sunday morning, due to snowy and freezing conditions, causing inconvenience for many travelers during the travel surge known as "chunyun," which started on Jan. 26 and will end on March 5.

In Hefei, the provincial capital, authorities have closed three main coach stations while mobilizing more than 300 units of machinery and vehicles to clear snow.

In central China's Hubei Province, freezing rain and snow over the past few days have disrupted flights and railway traffic in several cities, including Wuhan, the provincial capital and a transportation hub.

"Dongbei Dagu," a folk art of drum music and recitative, is listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Wang Yanjuan, an inheritor of the folk art, performed three hours at a folk custom fair in Bayuquan District of Yingkou City during Chinese Xiaonian Festival. The festival, also known as the Kitchen God Festival, fell on Feb. 2 this year in northern China.

Deeply influenced by her father since childhood, Wang has devoted herself to passing on the cultural heritage of "Dongbei Dagu" by cherishing the traditions and tapping the innovative potentials.
