Because mama doesn't want any hussies for a daughter in law that's why.

Because many Chinese parents are spoiling their grown kids like they are still 3-year olds.

This is also why many grown Chinese with their own families still go to their parents for money to buy houses and cars. Even though they are grown, they are still so mentally attached to their parents and their parents to them...

One of my wife's high school classmates just called her a couple days ago and asked us to watch over and take care of her younger cousin who just moved to Austin after college. She said it was an "order" from her uncle (the parents of the college graduate). They called her and asked her to find people in Texas to watch over their son. And my wife was like "Austin is 150 miles away from us. How do we take care of him?! And he is a grown man!"

Can you believe it? A 23-year old guy needs to be watched over and taken care of? And his parents are so worried that they are looking for people all over the great state of Texas to do that...

All I can say is wow.. ...but as we know there are allegedly grown people in all cultures that are as you described. In the US how many grown "nerds" live at home..in the basement.
