BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Wang Qishan, chief of the discipline watchdog of the Communist Party of China (CPC), pledged Thursday stricter Party supervision to consolidate the foundation of governance in the country.

"The people's support is the political foundation for a party ruling a country," said Wang, head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, when meeting former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in Beijing.

Briefing Kissinger on the sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, Wang stressed the significance of strict political discipline and rule in the Party, as well as innovation to advance strict Party governance.

Construction on a full-size replica of the Titanic began in the tiny, hilly county of Daying in Southwest China's Sichuan province on Nov. 30, 2016. China is building a life-size replica of the doomed RMS Titanic in a landlocked county more than 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) from the sea. When completed, the replica ship will measure 269 meters (882 ft) long by 28 meters (92 ft) wide and will feature reproductions of the original Titanic's features, including a ballroom, theater, swimming pool and rooms. For the first time, four Chinese brands have been ranked among the top five most profitable smartphone vendors around the globe due to Samsung's fiasco surrounding the Galaxy Note7, according to an industry consulting company. Karn Chauhan, research analyst for Counterpoint Technology Market Research, said the top four domestic brands generated a combined $1.1 billion in operating profits, capturing a combined 11 percent profit share in the third quarter of this year.

"The game of profits has always been between Apple and Samsung because of its strong presence premium segment and vertical integrated business model," said Chauhan. Statistics show that the global mobile handset hardware segment generated $10.2 billion in operating profits during the third quarter. "Over the last few quarters, there has been a strong competitive shift towards the Chinese brands which has generated healthy scale focusing on high volume mid- to high-tier segment by offering an attractive affordable premium portfolio," Chauhan added.
