Sailor Li Dongxu works as his cargo vessel Yuyang No. 1 approaches to a harbor for maintenance on the Yangtze River in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, Jan. 31, 2015. Born in 1994, Li is the youngest sailor on the ship, whose main task is to assist captain or the first mate for daily sailing. Besides, as a new hand, he has to do some rough jobs like deck cleaning and errands running. The young sailor said he did the same job for eight hours everyday on the vessel, and he had thought of giving up and finding a steady job on the bank. However, with the encouragement of his colleagues, he decided to stay and adapted to living on the river with the dream that one day he could be a captain. From a sailor to the captain, he needs to pass promotion exams constantly in eight years. This year, Li will be examined for the Third Mate qualification, and thus spend the upcoming Spring Festival holiday on the ship, which is just a start: to make his dream come true, he has to stick on the place with other sailors during more future holidays.
