I'm back! I never was gone just busy. We went to my wifes parents farm yesterday about 30 miles from here..then this morning we went to my step sons home for my gran sons birthday party. Fun ,fun, FUN!

Yes, there were pirated goods (Videos etc.) on sale popeye. The law has been tightened and recalcitrant arrested. Since about 5 years ago, the Singapore laws on pirated goods have been tightened, also endangered species & products (e.g. carved ivory tusks). All those "open" (outdoor) markets (are no longer in existence now). Shopping centres (those "famous" for pirated goods - e.g. shops in Sim Lim Square) were raided and owners fined heavily for possessing/selling pirated products. The laws are strictly enforced, as Singapore is a signatory of the International Anti-Piracy and Endangered Species Initiatives. Visitors better not try bringing into Singapore pirated goods purchased from neighbouring countries. Visit us again popeye and I will buy you lunch/beers and show you modern Singapore (advance notice please, as I travel for biz).

I remember I once replied to your post that Asian people are more emotional. The parents waiting outside gaokao stations mark that this is an important event for their children, and to show the concerns and hopes. Further, it acts like a cheering team to give spiritual support to their children. I remember my parents didn't care too much about my study. They didn't even step to my school. To choose which school, to work-hard or drop out, I decided it myself.

Yet you turned into a fine man Steel, my parents had to "visit" school occasionally, my 9th grade end of year report cards ended up in the trash in Jacksonville, Arkansas, I was back an hour later pulling them out of the trash for my Mom's inspection???? yuck! report cards, and now I am a "substitute teacher", I guess I get the last laugh, and a small paycheck!
