It’s too bad that in many nations women are still considered breeding vessels and not as intellectual functioning members of society. And it is not just the men that perpetuate that stereo type; it is older matriarchs as well. I see it here, that if you are a professional and a woman you are considered either too smart for your own good or not feminine enough to “catch” a man.

That article is complete BS and is written by someone who obviously have no problem with twisting facts to suit their own feminist and china-bashing agenda.
The reality is, it is not the Chinese men who look down upon these Ph.D or "leftover" women. It is these women who look down upon Chinese men who are of lower social status than them.
Let me make one thing clear: these women are not "leftover" because nobody wants to marry them. On the contrary, they probably have several suitors. These women are not married because they only want to marry a man that is either rich or has a high social standing. These women are leftover because they are, simply put, too picky. (And, IMO, too full of themselves.)

I can't say for sure having little exposure to Mainland China myself. However, one thing I've noticed is that as women become more financially independent and educated the higher their expectations are. People tend to marry within their social class and women tend to be more socially conscious of the status of who they marry than men. However because jobs are finite and more higher paying and reputable jobs are taken by women, therefore less men fit that criteria that women set for themselves. This means less supply and greater demand for select few bachelors, meaning women have to lower their standards or else look elsewhere. This is merely my observation.

True however that is human nature and certainly not restricted to China or any specific country. Everybody wants to 'marry up'. Others factors being similar, guys generally concentrate on physical appearances while women on financial security.

Chinese women are more likely. I don't have hard stats. But going by circumstantial data, it's hands down obvious. They are willing to marry down provided the man is not their own kind. Just saying.

I think t2contra meant marrying outside the race if they married a man below their social economic status. But I see that everywhere in America in every race and creed. I tend to think women married a man to impress their gal friends and fr-enemies, especially the younger generation. Unfortunately the more superficial the marriage is the higher the divorce rates as well as couple will later find out life isn't like on the movies or on t.v.

I see.. you mean the good looking Asian gal marrying the poor unattractive white dude syndrome? well I don't have much comment to add to that one! My guess is in her mind race is a bigger factor to her therefore in her warp mind she still is marrying up except in this case the race of her mate supercedes looks or financial well being.
Besides it could be a myth.. I mean I've seen a lot of mix couples and even know a few but the 'white guy' is hardly poor!
Also if you've seen Lone Survivor one of the SEALs wife is Asian.. I definitely wouldn't consider her marrying down when she married him.
Maybe some girls does it to spite their overly conservative parents... who knows!
