How diferent is china from vietnam/cambodia ?

Steelbird can answer you better. I live in Singapore and never have been to Vietnam or Cambodia. The last time I visited China was in 1993. China is defo more modern than either but pollution-wise probably about the same judging from the number of motorcycles used in the Indo-Chinese cities. I noticed that Cambodia's economy has been doing pretty well over the last three years averaging about 7% growth.

I've been to Singapore 4 times. 1975,1981,1991 & 2003...I'd really like to visit China's mainland. Have have been to Hong Kong years,'74, '75 & '91, ago when it was a BCC.

Just wow! Singapore's cityscape and tourism appeal has changed noticeably since 2003.

Either Singapore or China is very good place to visit. I've never been to Singapore; however, I did visit a small portion of China back to 2001. Hong Kong and Macau were on vocation list in 2000. I've got some friends in China, and they did showed me around when I visited there.

My next stop might be Malaysia or Singapore or both. Since we're all in Southeast Asia, we can travel there without visa. I have heard Singapore is very beautiful country but with very bad weather. It's very hot and rain might fall down anytime.

Cambodia and Vietnam are quite identical except that Cambodia is a democratic country with more freedom as well as robbers, street violence, beggars, casinos and prostitution. Traveling between the two countries is very convenient, with US$8 to US$12 you can buy a bus ticket from Phnom Penh to HCM almost any time. The distance between the two cities is 280km (about 173 miles) and usually take 5 hours 30 minute by bus. Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh city, is very condensed. The city is said to be home for 8 million people. You can hardly find a beggar in this city. They control their city very well. Any arm violence will have no way to escape even in such a big city.

In general, if you compare China to Cambodia/Vietnam without any criteria, I believe you are comparing a modern city to some underdeveloped rural area. Guangzhou alone would swallow Cambodia and Vietnam in whole. Of course China has some drawback too. At least, we can enjoy two free, universal election every five years. Chinese mainlanders never know what is election.

I've been to Cambodia. Siem Riep actually. I went to see the ruins of Angkor. The local populace are a friendly lot. I didn't feel unsafe the entire time I was there even though the environment and surroundings are very 3rd world looking so to speak.

Actually, robbery and street violence are everywhere around the world. It is not considered as "UNSAFE" with a few cases of robbery. To be exactly, Siem Riep is safer than Phnom Penh because it is a tourist city that security is more tightened. Phnom Penh has been a paradise for street robbery in Cambodia due to incapability and irresponsibility of police. Security is tightened only when there is big event in the city (such as Asian Summit). Recently, robbers has turned their targets to Sihanouk Ville, one the beach and port city of Cambodia, which once is considered a safe city. Below is a link to a fail robbery case in Sihanouk Ville caught on camera which happened recently

The little guy front and center is a gamer (plays video games) meanwhile, the tall dork to the right in the red/pink shirt with glasses is definitely the IT computer geek type that enjoys online anime porn.:p

The girl on the right with glasses is a premed major, and the one the left is definitely a double major in math and computer science. They're both fans of the movie "The Notebook" and the "Twilight" series. Meanwhile the girl on the very far left in the pink shirt glasses will probably go out with the porn fan boy that I've mentioned from the first picture.:p
