Re: Chinese Daily Photos, Videos & News of 2013!!!

Well, Popeye. If you know me, you should figure out that I was born in the war era, to be exact, Vietnam war. In my childhood, my family was extremely poor. What was worse is that we lived in Vietnam illegally. I didn't have access to formal education. However, I did hear that song since my childhood though not in English. I couldn't remember when and perhaps only music. Though I was born to a third-gen Chinese family and grew up in Vietnam, my first written language was French. You might want to read that again. Yes, I start learning French as early as late 70's. The Catholic church which I went had a very deep French style of living. That's why I did have some access to western culture since then. However, I didn't master the language. Even today, I speak very bad French, almost zero.

Honestly I did know how about old you were..but I got your post mixed up with another persons post I had just read..Thanks for your excellent post in this thread. You have endured a lot.

Perhaps SDF is one of the forum I've been living with for so long though I'm not an active poster, and you've been a member and a moderator of SDF that I've paid my highest respect to. Wonder if we can meet in person someday in the future. If you have vocation to Cambodia or Vietnam, the battle field where you fought 40 years ago, do let me know. I'll show you around.

I've been hearing a lot about the Qiantang River of its famous about the strong tide, especially when the two opposite tide meet each other every year. These people really risk their safety to watch the tide. They really shouldn't bring their babies along.
