Re: Chinese Daily Photos, Videos & News of 2013!!!

Market sellers usually didn't send thieves to police. If the thief was a male, he might be beaten to nearly dead. If that was a female, then the female seller had more extreme method to deal with her; ripped all her clothes off and cut her hair with scissors like a crazy hair style and let her go! Got to mention something, at that time, no one cared about human right.

Anywhere in the US that's felony assault & possibly other charges such as child abuse. Someone is going to be arrested.

Singer Ren Miaoyin (R) holds a live online concert in Beijing, capital of China, March 21, 2013. Ren Miaoyin is among a burgeoning group of young Chinese singers who take advantage of YY, a real-time video-based social network, to hold live concerts. Each Thursday evening, YY will invite a few singers to join its weekly music channel "YY Top 10", which presents ten most popular Chinese songs to the online audiences by live broadcast. It was 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. Ren arrived at a studio of YY to attend the latest "YY Top 10" as guest singer. The program could be a great chance for a novice singer like Ren to promote herself. Nearly 20,000 audiences watched Ren's performance that evening, which was a satisfying result. There are also a large number of full-time online singers who give performance at home, taking advantage of the real-time video communication. Audiences can send virtual gifts to their beloved online singers, who in turn can convert the virtual gifts into cash money. According to a staff of YY, a popular online singer can earn more than 10,000 yuan (1,610 U.S. dollars) from virtual gifts. As of September 2012, YY has over 400 million registered users and 66.1 million monthly active users, making it an amicable platform for singers who wish to promote themselves via the internet. Of course. What I said happened in the 80s in Vietnam only. Today, things like that cannot happen. But in Cambodia, people are still very violent. If a thief (any kind of thief) is caught, he better be caught by police. Otherwise he'll be dead by the villagers. I remember a photo (can't find it now) of some villagers using bamboo stick beating a robbers to dead. No one care!

Artist Matt Hope adjusts the helmet linked to his air filtration bike in front of the China Central Television (CCTV) building on a hazy day in Beijing, March 26, 2013. Using an IKEA perforated garbage can, moped helmet, fighter-pilot breathing mask, wheel-powered generator and home air filtration system, Beijing-based artist Matt Hope built a "breathing bicycle" as a way of protecting himself from air pollution. While peddling, electricity is generated for the power to activate the system to filter out haze and provide the rider with clean air, local media reported. According to the U.S. embassy monitor, the air quality today is classified as "very unhealthy".
