About 25yrs ago maybe longer, I saw a film clip of a very old guy and his band playing "Glen Miller's"music in a dance hall in Shanghai. The narrator of the film clip said that the old guy had started playing at the premises circa 30/40's ?. I was always meaning to look up the dance hall whenever I was in Shanghai, but never got around to it.

China copied this pioneer organization from the USSR, who also had their pioneer organization, part of the larger komsomol organization. They too had the red scarfs, but the uniform was different. But in the USSR, almost everyone participated in the pioneers, thats what i read on the internet.
