Police remove a woman who tries to approach Chinese philanthropist Chen Guangbiao before a charity event during a visit to the Taiwan city of Hsinchu on January 27, 2011. Chen, well-known in China for his flamboyant style of charity, started handing out cash on the first day of a controversial trip to Taiwan that has sparked criticism and protests from anti-China groups.

I saw this on the TW news. The quote above associated with the picture seems to (indirectly - intentionally or not) emphasize the last message. But according to the news, that women in the picture was shoved down by someone (police i think) after trying to reach Mr. Chen for money/handouts/'red packets'. She was apparently there on one of his previous visits as well. Mr. Chen responded to that event saying it was regretful.

That aside, Chen donated to womens charity and bought school lunches or something on the visit too, blah blah etc.. (being a philanthropist and all) I didnt remember it all that was mentioned - sorry. TW thought about giving Mr. Chen some residency (status) but did not because it was afraid it would be politicized (as the quote above in bold points out some cause).

PS. PETA protest pic be much better without the men or the signs... JUS SAY'IN!

Re: US President Obama in China photos & discussion

see, their meet this january, obama is humble

US prez are generally friendlier to China in their second term for obvious reasons. it came earlier for bush cuz of 9/11. otherwise think about the plane crash in april 01.
if obama wins re-election he'd be considerably friendlier to China too.
