Because they are amateur first timers, notice they are all on the bunny hill. Not many people in China ski/snowboard. You see the one photo of the pro with tinted goggles.
Also notice no one is wearing helmets other than the pro. Or just warring their regular winter jackets instead of ski jackets. Most first time skiers don't want to commit spending $1000 on gear before knowing if they will go back or continue skiing.
I probably spend more than $10k on all my snowboarding gear, board, boots and lift passesfor the last 20 years, buy then I live 1 hour from some of the best snow in the world for boarding and go almost weekly before.
