Although the term "Maglev" is used here a bit by language abuse

I can see why they used "Maglev" to describe their rotor mechanism. The principle behind the movement of their rotors is the same as that of Maglev trains; turning on and off out-of-phase magnetic fields to get a push-pull phenomenon, as below:

Now the official name of C-919's follow-on (C-929) is set to be CR-929.

From this development (plus the preliminary agreement of engine), it is obvious to me that China and Russia is merging their separate air-liner effort into one, much like what Europe did to Airbus.

Can you elaborate on why do you think so? Argument and reasoning are more valued than assertion.

You can never be sure of what will happen. CR-929 is like A300 being the first project of Airbus in the 1970s. One might have said the same thing about Airbus back then.

Besides, CR-929 is going to be developed by the Sino-Russo JV which was established in Shanghai just months ago. Isn't that JV the Sino-Russo Airbus in its early days?

Airbus is a concentration of all the civil airliner development capabilities of the participating countries. None of the countries that are a part of Airbus now have a competitive airliner development capability of their own, which is fine for them because their entire populations are smaller than the population of a single Chinese province. However, China is a behemoth and will not tolerate not having a completely independent competitive airliner development capability. If the Sino-Russian venture is able to grow into a truly competitive firm then that's great but China, unlike the European countries, will also maintain an independent domestic alternative.

The highlighted texts are true and I have no doubt about it. However it does not necessarily get in the way for a cooperation in a Airbus like JV between China and Russia. Therefor I questioned the doubt that CR-929 will be the only product of this cooperation. Perhaps, the Sino-Russo JV will develop into a different form (inside) like BAE's involvement in Anglo-American military complex, F-35 style, but a JV is a JV.
