Assembly of main part of the fuselage of China's large amphibious aircraft AG600 has completed in Zhuhai city, south China's Guangdong province on June 8.

The 39.3-meter-long aircraft is longer than the standard model of Boeing 737. The AVIC General Aircraft Company will install wings, tail, landing gear, avionics systems and airborne equipment on the plane, which will make its maiden flight before the end of this year.

The AG600, intended to be the world's largest amphibious aircraft, has a takeoff weight of 53.5 tons. It can collect 12 tons of water in 20 seconds and could be used to fight forest fires and in marine rescue.

@t2contra

I just moved Your post into this tread since it is more "Aviation Industry"-related than it fits into my book-tread.

Anyway thanks ... and by the way are there any news regarding the C919 ???

PARIS: CFM prepares for first Leap deliveries to Comac

By: Mark Pilling, Paris

CFM International president Jean-Paul Ebanga has confirmed that the manufacturer will in the next few weeks deliver the first two engines to China's Comac for the C919 flight-test programme.

The Leap-1C engine has completed 21 flights on GE's Boeing 747 testbed, with the maiden flight taking place in October 2014.

Engines for the C919 passenger jet "are going off test stand this week" in preparation for shipping to China, says CFM executive vice-president Allen Paxson. Further engines for Comac will be delivered to China in line with Comac's flight-test programme requirements, says Ebanga.

Comac has not given any firm dates yet for the first flight of the C919. However, the company told Flightglobal in May that it will make an announcement on the aircraft's first-flight schedule towards the end of the year. The first flight of the C919 was originally scheduled for end-2015.

I don't think $300 billion over 20 years is a realistic number for investment, 15 billion $ a year might be what China spends on engines but not the investment in the industry.

300 billion yuan (~50 billion $) over 20 years sounds much more likely and has been mentioned in other articles:
