Hypersonic missiles decrease your time to respond to the attack and reach the target more quickly. It is as simple as that.
We also cannot discount the possibility of radar stealth due to plasma effects. But this applies to the Zircon not the Oniks aka Brahmos.

The US did not even bother to develop their own naval strike stealth cruise missile. They are buying a design from Norway. They are just that lazy developing naval strike weapons. The last two decades fighting insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan didn't help either. The budget for peer conflict systems was severely cut.

They could just put it near every potential target. Manpads and anti-air guns are cheap.

What's china equivalent to lsram and Jassm
I know there is the AKF-98 that's all I know. can the j35 and j20 carry AKF-98a I assume that j35 and j20 can carry most or all the bombs and missle that j16 can externally

China has several models of those. JASSM is not difficult to make. They can use the same stealth materials that they used for J35 or J20 for the shell.
