That thing has a claimed range of up to 35km? knowing it's Hellfire-sized, it either has some insanely energetic propellant and maybe a lofting trajectory or it's just vapor claim.Live test of JK-2 missile developed by the private firm Guangdong Hongda (广东宏大). The same company also developed the HD-1 supersonic cruise missile.
3-35, that range disparity has a lot of assumptions built in I'm sure. That thing has a claimed range of up to 35km? knowing it's Hellfire-sized, it either has some insanely energetic propellant and maybe a lofting trajectory or it's just vapor claim.

That placard also only has 1 weight and warhead data, presumably for the shorter model. Claiming the potential range of the longer model while displaying other parameters of the shorter model should be a pretty clear-cut case of dishonest marketing. The placard says JK-2 series. Also note that right next to the placard, there are two models of JK-2 missiles on display, and one is significantly more sizeable than the other.

Appraently last year AATC tested a new version of hellfire with a claimed range "roughly three times as far as previous versions and resulted in the longest Hellfire shot taken to date", take it with a pinch of salt but assuming they're comparing it to regular AGM-114R it puts the tested version in the ballpark of having a 35km max range. That placard also only has 1 weight and warhead data, presumably for the shorter model. Hmmm, interesting. Did any of the Hellfire parameters change significantly? Especially in external dimensions and weight?Appraently last year AATC tested a new version of hellfire with a claimed range "roughly three times as far as previous versions and resulted in the longest Hellfire shot taken to date", take it with a pinch of salt but assuming they're comparing it to regular AGM-114R it puts the tested version in the ballpark of having a 35km max range.
edit: claims vary on the range of the regular R-varient, ranging from 8km to 11km. Multiply it by 3 and you have a very rough estimate of 24-33km for the tested AGM-114R-4.
I don't think so, although no specific information on the AGM114R-4 was released. My guess is a combination of better propellant, better trajectory and maybe different firing conditions (say they found a way to fire at higher altitude & airspeed without compromising accuracy)Hmmm, interesting. If little to nothing changed then probably more energetic propellant and trajectory algorithm optimization, just a guess based on how SAMs had grown in range through lofted trajectory and better propellant. But if the new Hellfire gets much longer & heavier, then they're probably just brute-forcing the extra range with extra propellant.
