Not likely imo, using large sub-sonic munitions for anti-radiation just sounds like a bad idea with the current fast-deployment and maneuver capabilities of SAM systems, even if the munition itself is LOView attachment 100880
AKF98A !!! Could the "F" possibly stand for anti-radiation? Most Chinese air-to-surface weapons start with AKD with the "D" stand for surface stationary targets. For example, AKD-20 is the ALCM version of CJ-20.
Or it's rocket powered? One more question on the AKF-91A: it has a red cover on the back, which imo is common for powered munitions to cover the engine exhaust, but there are no visible intakes on the missile/dispenser itself so I’m confused… unless it’s a NACA intake and currently covered up/ at somewhere that we don’t have a clear view?
Maybe…? But it doesn’t really make a lot of sense to use rocket on something like thisOr it's rocket powered?
Either the intake is hidden under the wings (like JASSM, of which the intake would start sucking in air after the wings open-up), or this weapon is solid fuel rocket powered. There is a slight chance it could even be liquid-fuel powered, but I strongly doubt it.One more question on the AKF-91A: it has a red cover on the back, which imo is common for powered munitions to cover the engine exhaust, but there are no visible intakes on the missile/dispenser itself so I’m confused… unless it’s a NACA intake and currently covered up/ at somewhere that we don’t have a clear view?
Yeah JASSM is along the lines of the NACA intake I mentioned, may be the caseEither the intake is hidden under the wings (like JASSM, of which the intake would start sucking in air after the wings open-up), or this weapon is solid fuel rocket powered. We will have wait for a future date when there are clear picture of such intake. During this time, I am more biased toward solid fuel rocket. That should give it a 200+ km rocket+glide range. If it were indeed JASSM/Storm Shadow type weapon, expect a 500-1000 km standoff range.Yeah JASSM is along the lines of the NACA intake I mentioned, may be the case
You mean GB500C? I would guess the one that doesn't have GB in front of its name and fitted onto JH-7A is likely the one that is Chinese JASSM. My guess is that the inlet is just really well hidden.
I think this is the real Chinese equivalent to JASSM or Storm Shadow.
