I just realized the ramification of long range AAM. Since to achieve 100KM above hits the missile will go in a parabolic trajectory. When the missile goes pitbull the orientation will be top down, and that’s literally when an aircraft’s RCS is at its max. I wonder if this will allow for very long range kill of fifth and maybe even sixth gen assets as long as the missile can receive data.

The J-36 is meant to fly high which means it’s shooting while looking down. Makes you wonder if they can get extended range shot even with PL-15/16s.
