Agree I think Chinese government should be more proactive and should not be deferential to the west. They should discard this non intervention in the affair of other nation I know where this policy come from China expect reciprocating from the west not to interfere in China domestic politic But the west never respect this convention So the policy is useless. But having said so the situation in Myanmar is still fluid and China can wait until the dust settle see wait the junta up too They have many lever to push. One of them is to give support to WA and Karen independent movement. Although they are de facto independent now
I dont understand why the Chinese system is so reluctant to change.
China only changed fundamentally when they suffered the disaster of losing the industrial revolution train and when all the western countries grouped up to grab a piece of the country.
So I guess after this tragedy, their leaders started interacting internationally while not interfering to other countries internal systems.
And now with strategic competition, the USA and other countries will play all kind of dirty tricks to get ahead, coups, terrorism, propaganda etc.. but still China doesn't change its policies.
So I ask, does China have to suffer a disaster and waster another 200 years every time in order to change fundamental policies?
If China cannot be flexible in this most critical moment in their history then it better surrender and stop dreaming for competing with the US, so we.wont have to waste any more time with it. This competition is prime opportunity for the US and China to prove that their systems work and that they are.flexible enough to change parts of it when needed
@Hendrik_2000 If China follow the footstep of the US, dear god the developing countries will have no future, instead of one bully we have two. Its easy to follow the dark side (western imperialism) America want China to be like them. Instead China follow its own path because she is still a developing country.
On a side note those protest in Myanmar are state sponsor, with the coup the nation is under the state of emergency in other words under military control.

US goal is to bust China oil pipeline in Myanmar.
If Myanmar government follow that, China would suffer huge loss, and got strategically blockaded.
This is not bully, its fighting for survival.
Myanmar's importance is overestimated. The most fundamental mistake of Western policymakers is that they have the illusion that China depends on one country and think that they can be used to hurt China.
Recently Chinese companies in Myanmar have been attacked and looted. China is trying to evacuate citizens back home. Certainly, China cares about the safety of its citizens, and about the internal issues and foreign policy of Myanmar people, China doesn't care.

Myanmar is not stupid. Confronting China did not do them any good. China does not interfere in Myanmar's internal affairs, but China has the right to defend its legitimate interests. If Myanmar turned against China openly, China would have a good reason to use military might to solve the problem. But both Myanmar and China avoid that. The West will help Myanmar in terms of spiritual encouragement, but without economic and military support, they do not want to confront China directly and they also understand that it is pointless, Myanmar is not strong enough to cause loss to china.
Well good for your confidence on Myanmar government to do the right thing!
To early to say that Myanmar government wouldn't damage China strategically especially with support of US.
Just keep an eye how the situation unfolded.
Last time China had confronted Myanmar government when it attacked wachin and kokang states and their bombs dropped on Chinese side. China had mobilized it's military, HQ9 , j11 all that at the border. That pressure eventually made Myanmar army retreated.
