I remember when China was trying to order IL-76 cargo + IL78 tankers from Russia

now China has Y20 is large quantities good to see China going it alone and also with indigenous engines

Yes, WS-20 has around twice the diameter of the D-30.

This meant that WS-20 has more thrust than D-30, hence allowing the Y-20 to carry her original maximum designed payload of 66+ tons.
