He did not say the domestic engine would be WS-18, it could very well be WS-20. IMO he was more likely referring to the WS-20, as you can't really 'see' the WS-18 when compared to the original D-30.what the heck? I thought they would already be on WS-18. I guess it's still technically at the period between design certification and being really able to mass produce it. Either way, this is slower than I expected.
the plan all along was to start with WS-18 and then move on to WS-20.
There is no reason to believe that the Y-20 must use WS-18 first before turning to WS-20, especially considering the number of D-30 China ordered.
