Since water is not compressable, it will give that center section and the whole airframe a real beating, one of the reasons you like to have plenty of lift and thrust is to transfer the load to the wing and off the hull as soon as possible, any sea plane has a hard life, but a large one even more so? A very important further benefit of external attach point is that heavy "carry through spar" structure will no impinge on the internal load, which it does in the case of a C-130, etc, where the spar carry through structure passes through the cabin.

A short time friend of my sister's, when she was sixteen or so, gave me a book from 1940 about aircraft performance that compared land aircraft that needed to make do with a legal take of distance ( I think it was talking about taking off from grass, not concrete ) of 600 meters ( 2000' ) with flying boats used in Indonesia ( then a Dutch colony ) using 3000 meters when the water was very smooth and didn't offer some waves to throw it into the air. No word about high winds and high waves.

The white building in the 1st image does indeed look like a Mongolian style building.
Actually I don't think it is a hangar .. looks IMO more like a typical Airport building ! Isn't Hulunbuir Hailar Airport simply a civil airport ?
