China's transport, tanker & heavy lift aircraft

I expect them to start production of the Y-20 with D-30 engines first, then convert these early airframes to use WS-20 later on.

Do you think the WS-20 engines will be used in other future Chinese aircraft both military and civilian?

that depends on China's goals for it's commercial Air programs. I mean If they goal total competition with western builders or a "Pure" Chinese liner for special mission roles like PLA VIP and platform use then they would create variants that fit the Comac 919 variants there in and follow on. Other wise only if there are civilian Y20's or if a nation partners with China on a regional liner like say a African builder, but I doubt that.

PLAAF will never realise the true advantage of Y-20 until they have indigenous engine for this aircraft

Because the current Russian engines I believe could not allow it to lift 60-70 tons for which it was designed

It's like me having the best Goodyear tyres and aerodynamics on my car but the engine I have does not allow the car to get the speed for which the tyres and model was designed so what's the point?

The design of Y-20 is for one purpose only, a heavy lift and it can only do that with WS20 engine so until then Y-20 is not going to fulflfil the role it was built for

This is why I believe China will try and fast as possible to get WS20 on the Y-20 so they can start to see the true benifit of the Y-20

Very very nice! Love to see more Y-9 transports in operation with China

I wish Pakistan can replace all the older C130 with new Y-9 units

I can just imagine a PLAAF air field packed with Y-9 and Y-20 transports! A big huge airborne division

Hui Tong udapte on the 3 Il-78 tankers ordered, he get a fuel capacity around 60t, big difference with the H-6U, 18t ! but 3 for the PLAAf is very few.

I take it, that the insinuation is that this is engine is a large bypass turbofan, possibly WS-20.

Certainly nothing to particularly discredit it, but nothing too much to support it, unless the OP is someone with a good rep.
