... from article

nd now we embrace the birth of the Y-20," said Qu Renming, a white-collar worker in Beijing. "The only concern for military fans is when can the Y-20 use our domestically developed engine and enter into service."

One of the sites I was reading stated that the wings were built by the Ukraine-based ANTK Antonov and the engines are Russian D-30KP2.... ??????????.

I doubt that part about the wings, you don't just transport wings like that from ukraine to china, it doesn't make sense.

I think whatever wrote that may have meant that antonov acted as consultants to XAC on the project, which we all knew was happening for the last few years.

Gotta say ukraine is being a far better partner to china on these military projects than russia was.

talking about Y-20's advantages comparing with its counter parts such as Il-76 and C-17, Song Xiaojun, a regular on cctv news , mentioned "fly-by-wire, and composite".

composite is certainly used on Y-20, the question is how much composite is used, anywhere near the Boeing 787? does it use the Li ion battery as well?

if it is indeed fly-by-wire, does it mean the C919 will be the same?

It's interesting they couldn't hide a secret test flight so easily if they wanted. Since the media was invited this probably was its maiden flight. A lot of confidence built up in the year 2012. Hence all the nitpicking from the usual suspects to try to tear down the year 2012.

I would be amazed if C919 did not feature FBW.
