would like to see Z-21 being transported in the Y20
Unless there are span restrictions due to ground infrastructure its always better to increase span over adding winglets.

WInglet is not uncommon in China since commercial jets with winglets have been operating in China for many decades. There are many ways to design wings of good aeredynamic efficiency other than adding winglets. They have their own conclusion and reason not to add winglet on Y20 which we are not told.

Well if you can design proper aspect ratio for your wing to maximize L/D, there is no need for winglet in the first place. Winglet is mainly to help with space restriction in airfield or hangar.
