China's Space Program Thread II

So you are saying Chinese leaders are wrong in trying to establish a SpaceX-like Starlink system i.e Guowang and spacesail since they are pointless?
You do realise that China is still trying to scale up her rocket and satellite launches capabilities/rate like spaceX so they can meet the launch target for this leo satellite system before the space allocated to them by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which is necessary to maintain its allocated radio spectrum and orbital slots runs out right? Why will they be putting themselves into so mkch hassle to achieve this if it was useless as you claimed? Lol. If anything the Ukraine war and starlink use as shown how important space and this system can be.
I don't believe he was arguing that such a system is useless: he was merely pointing out the vulnerability of such systems in a direct China-US conflict given the formidable ASAT capabilities of both parties. As for the Ukraine war, Russia has demonstrated that even without resorting to kinetic countermeasures (which carries significant escalation risks), Russia has been able to substantially blunt the effectiveness of Starlink using electronic countermeasures (and Russia's capabilities in terms of jamming and electronic warfare are rather modest in comparison to those of the US and China).

So you believe that chinese leaders and space officials are stupid to put so much effort/capital and manpower in developing such a huge satellite constellation like starlink eventhough its useless? I guess you are smarter than the Chinese and americans?. Lol
If you think a bit on why Guowang are getting launched on LM5B and what that implies about their size and orbit, you'd realize Guowang isn't exactly Starlink.

I just stumbled on yet another propellant tank supplier today:

.

Like Jianyuan and LightYear, R.Space also focuses on supplying propellant tanks to launch providers. It has just completed the first phase of its production plant located next to the Oriental Spaceport in Yantai, Shandong. The plant now has the capacity for making more than 30 propellant tanks per year. The company is currently focusing on improving production efficiency of stainless steel tanks as well as on R&D of composite tanks.

, this one is named NewSpace. It's currently developing the Red Rabbit (赤兔/Chitu) line of reusable launch vehicles for both satellite payloads and manned missions, which will be powered by the company's lineup of LOX/Methane engines.

– Chitu-1 is an experimental rocket used to verify various control technologies and component.
– Chitu-3/3A has a diameter of 3.35m. Intended for launching payloads to LEO and space tourism.
– Chitu-6/6A, diameter 3.9m, intended for manned missions and deep space exploration.
– Chitu Heavy Lift, 9.9m in diameter, envisioned for transporting humans to Mars.
