I would compare it to the development of Beidou. China also started later, at first it was a limited regional system. But by working hard, spending more than on its manned program, China built, let's not say a competitor, but a powerful alternative system.

A Long March 3B has successfully inserted ChinaSat-10R communications satellite into orbit. This was the 560th flight of the Long March series.
ZX-10R has been cataloged at 126°E. There are now 19 active ZX satellites on orbit, all between the eastern Indian Ocean through the western Pacific with the heaviest concentration over the South China Sea.

China will select taikonauts for its first-ever manned moon landing mission from the current pool of taikonauts who have participated in spaceflight missions to the China Space Station..

China’s first astronaut and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yang Liwei disclosed during an interview with the People’s Daily aired on Monday evening.

More ambitious pronouncements regarding the Hyperbola-3. An orbital launch and recovery test will be conducted by the end of 2025. Maiden launch and recovery mission is set for 2026. Will reach a launch rate of 25 per year by 2030.

that it's currently assembling three Hyperbola-3 launch vehicles. The first orbital launch and sea recovery test is confirmed for December of this year.
