A KZ-1A solid rocket successfully launched Haishao-1 (海哨一号/Sea Sentinel 1) remote sensing satellite into orbit. The KZ-1A used in this launch is upgraded from previous KZ-1As. It has an enlarged fairing (increased from 1.4m to 1.8m in diameter) and a larger payload capacity to LEO (increased from 300kg to 450kg). Haishao-1, also known as AIRSAT-08, is an ultra-low-orbit X-band synthetic aperture radar with a resolution of less than 1 meter.

The development of the Haishao-2/Sea Sentinel 2 –– the followup to Haishao-1/Sea Sentinel 1 ––– is in full swing and is expected to be launched in July of 2025 into the polar orbit. Haishao-2 is a polarized SAR radar (with an antenna dimensions of 4.8m by 0.77m). It will also integrate communications and navigation capabilities.

Some specifications of the stereoscopic cameras to be carried by Chang'e-7 orbiter. Depending on orbit, resolution can be better than 0.3m. The cameras are expected to operate for eight years and map the lunar surface in great detail to provide support for future lunar missions.
