Some explaination of 9 engines in 8 years program and progress. Among others, here are something worth to mention IMO.

1. YF-130 and 240t engine are essentially the same thing in the plan of CASC. 240t is just the single chamber version of YF-130. This is what I proposed some time ago in this thread regarding their development progress.

This is also stated in a book from 2011 "载人登月推进系统“.

2. YF-90 and the "new" 120t LOX/LH engine are "same thing" in terms of development. Also something that I have proposed before. It is stated in the book as well.

3. YF-135 is stated as "For upgrade". It seems to mean upgrading CZ-9 by replaceing 480t/240t engine. In other words, there will be two versions of CZ-9 unless YF-135 is extremely fast to catch up.

4. A new type high thrust engine. Although this poster does not say, the other picture of the program says that it is a closed-circle stage combustion hypergolic engine. It is replacement of YF-20 because YF-20 is 70t, this engine has 160% increased thrust reaching 100t class, 70t *160% is 112t which matches well.

Worth to note is that this engine is for 更新换代(renew, replacement). The is different from YF-135's wording 升级换代 (Upgrade). Nine-engine program started in 2021 long after YF-100 entered service. Inclusion of this hypergolic engine seems to indicate that CASC conciously want to keep hypergolic engine and rocket alive for whatever reasons. So I think this refutes notions of "why China not using CZ-6,7,8 more than the old rockets" and "YF-100 production capacity is lower than needed". Just my thought, Neigher China nor CASC are run by some fanatic evironmentalist, so although we will reduce the usage of hypergolic rocket, but will master the highest possible tech level in the field and use it when deemed neccesary.

By now, you have probably heard of China's megaconstellation project to complete with Starlink: "Guowang". But did you know that a second megaconstellation plan is emerging in the region of Shanghai? Called "G60 Starlink", this constellation calls for 1,296 and then 12,000 satellites to be sent to low Earth orbit. There's also a fascinating geopolitical twist involving Germany and the United States, highlighting the global struggle for licenses. Let's dive deep into this story. Enjoy!

It is most importat to occupy the orbit and frequency even if the project fails. The space is the new wild west to lay claim. As far as I know, the first one to launch a satellite into the orbit and begin to utilize that frequency owns it. This is a repeatition of the frequncy ownership fight between Gallio and Beidou, Gallio "owned" some frequncy but Beidou was launched earlier so China owned it.

As the poster mentioned "redundancy" to Guowang. It isn't redundant due to the reasoning above. Also in the Anglo world there are two players, OneWeb (UK) and Starlink (US), then Amazon (US) also has plan. Since there is no international regulation to share the space resources, China must occupy equal amount of frequncy and orbit as the Anglo world.
