The Longjiang-3 satellite is an experimental satellite developed by Harbin University of Technology, and it will be used to verify key technologies for China's future low-orbit broadband communications satellites, such as stackable form factor and high-speed data transmission.
The satellite is based on and developed from the SATware-CS200 Ka-band satellite platform, some specs of which are listed below:
- Weight: 40kg (load), 120kg (platform)
- Dimensions when folded for stacking: no more than 2300mm × 1100mm × 350mm
- Design life: 5 years
- Orbit: SSO/500km
- Data transmission speeds: download 600Mbps, upload 500Mbps
- Capacity for IoT users: 1400 concurrent users at 2.88kbps each
