Official states that there will be foreign astronauts on CSS(I know they stated it years ago, but it’s a good double confirmation):

It’s a shame people in the West knows less about this mission than say, a Starlink launch. If they do know, comments on media are always saying CSS is some sort of secret nefarious Chinese-only lab to conduct surveillance, espionage etc - quite racist IMO. Hopefully, the foreign astronauts will improve China’s soft power and contribute to science.

Good to have foreign astronauts but wouldnt that negatively affect chinese operations?

From what I know only 3 people can be on the station. So if 1 astronaut is foreigner then with only 2 Chinese astronauts the national experiments will be significantly impacted

Maybe the station can handle more than 3 astronauts?

Technically, 3 long term and 3 short term if I‘m not mistaken, and the official did say they train in Chinese facilities. Also, there’s an extra core module that can be launched after 2024 after they launch the space telescope. Or maybe during 2022-2024 if the addition of a new core doesn’t affect their plans.

But thats why we are talking about comparing their pressurized volume

As per @Temstar previous post, the ISS has 9x times more volume than the CSS. Note hoever that with all modules assembled the volume of CSS will probably double

Once the Chinese space station is finished, it should have around 1/3 of the pressurized volume of the ISS or maybe more, basically about the same pressurized internal volume as the decommissioned Mir.

In terms of the amount of experiments/science done per cubic meters, the CSS should significantly exceed that of the ISS due to a variety of factors.

Sorry if I am mistaken, but doesn't your explanation contradict your statement? You explained a cassette player is inferior to an MP3 player by capability as well as weighing more. Maybe you meant something else? The Tianhe should superior to each ISS core module compared seperately IMO because it was made in 2010s while most of the ISS modules was made late 1990s

Let me clarify, I assume the tech on Tianhe would be much better than the ISS given it's 20 years more modern.

The western media, however, always (bitterly) bring up the fact that it's lighter.
