Re: china manned space - news and views

Some small titbit about using the song "America the Beautiful" for the CGI clip describing the Tiangong 1 mission. I don't really have an opinion on the matter, but I thought I would post it here, since the reactions of my fellow forumites here is always interesting.

Big Deal. What do they think? Secret subliminal messages. They think it's a cry for help for the US to save China? This is equivalent to badly translated street signs.

I'm not sure what's more irritating, the fact that CCTV chose to play any music over it at all or that western media recognized and is making a big deal of it..

Given half the articles about this launch were talking about its political significance and how it was just a move to boost prestige... well I'm not too surprised at the latter.

China launching of Tiangong 1 is so perfect and western can only nick at this small small issue. But I think its a bad taste from Chinese side for playing the America tune. I know they try to insult the American decline in space program by playing a tune on Chinese successful launching.

You can see how western media turning an insult into their mockery of China.

The media will have a field day with the "mistake", but it clearly is not a mistake. The message is very clear, to those smart enough to discern it.

It's a mistake. CCTV has a long and storied history of using inappropriate clips and sound bytes. CCTV is very unprofessional.
