I feel the need to clarify the "Tiangong-1 out of control, to crash the earth" fuss.

First let me show what the western media is talking, from the MSM to the more preffesional source. Here is a link to the satellite tracking web site who draw its tracking data from Defense Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC) of US military.

However, in March 2016 the Tiangong-1 space station ceased functioning but maintained its structural integrity. In so far as can be fully confirmed, ground teams lost control with the craft, and it can no longer be commanded to fire its engines. It is, therefore, expected to make an uncontrolled reentry.

On 2016 March 21, an official Chinese statement declared that telemetry services with Tiangong-1 had ceased.

The is the so called official confirmation, that other western MSM based on to make the fuss.

Here is the true

What the west is saying is "telemetry services ceased". What the Chinese said was "data service ceased". The data here includes "earth remote sensing and other space detection", we are talking about huge load of photographs, radar data in giga bytes and tera bytes over three years since 2013. It is that data service ceased on March 2016. In no place or occation did China announced or confirmed the ceasing of telemetry data.

I would not be surprised if this "misinterpretation" (deliberately or not) comes from CNN or BBC. I am "shocked" by the same mistake from a web site supposed to be built by amature enthusiasts like

who does have the deep knowledge to make the difference. Language is not an issue if the person is as serious as a scientist who has the mind of scientific proving and critical thinking.

Here is again another official diplomatic note from China to the UN regarding the Tiangong reentering. Here the wording is "cease of function", not lost of control.

A bit off topic ...
I've just order (pre-order) Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 4GB 64GB Snapdragon 636 Blue from Aliexpress

I have been using Redmi Note 4 for a while now and very happy with it ... better than even 3x more expensive phones
It is OT indeed by now when it departed from BDS.:p
However, I'd like to share my thought of the phone. The two things that kept me from buying a Chinese phone to this day are 1) most of them are huge in size, while I insist easy single hand operation, 2) most of them (except Huawei P and Mate series, Oneplus) lack support of Band 20 LTE, a problem in Europe. I may give up the demand 2, but still insist on 1. So my choice of Chinese phone is pretty limited. While Samsung S8 or S9 are good in size, I just hate the design language, a bit cheesy if you ask me.:D

Have you taken a look at the signal sign in the status bar when you go to the country side? Was it "3G" or "LTE/4G". Also depends on which European country, a few does have B20, but very few. B20 is not used in the cities, so if you stayed in cities (very likely) you won't notice the problem. It is really a minor issue, as the phone would fall back to 3G WCDMA which can still provide decent data rate.

ahhh .. no, I didn't. The phone just worked fine there .. so I didn't notice whether it was 3G or 4G. 3G still very good/fast though

I'm rather perplexed over the whole Tiangong 1 thing. Some commentators in the BBC refer to it as an embarrassing setback/failure for China's space ambitions.Howeaver as I understand, Tiangong 1 accomplished its original mission goals,so where's the embarrassing failure?

They're spin doctors. The most ridiculous title I've ever heard went along the lines of "China's failed out-of-control space station to spew toxic chemicals all over the world as it crashes back to earth."

And the funniest is people imagining how "awesome" it would be if it crashed back onto Beijing and killed people when in actuality, it burned up 90% in the atmosphere and crashed into the ocean as the best case scenario would have it.

Indian authorities have confirmed they have lost contact with a powerful communications satellite, two days after it was launched.

It's not surprise at all that MSM like BBC tried to spin the Tiangong reentry as a failure when they can spin the highly technical information and feed the twisted story to the general public. That's what BBC and others were doing all these years. Remember how Nepalese policemen became Chinese when they dispersed exiled Tibetans' demonstration in Katmandu in 2008?

There is nothing embarrassing at all regarding Tiangong-1. It has achieved its goal and designed life in 2013. The Chinese found that there were still lots of fuel on board for orbital maintenance. So they decided to squeeze the very last drop of juice to have it in orbit for as long as possible for further data collection (it became essentially a low orbit optical, radar observation satellite, call it a spy satellite if one want). They are very confident that it will be almost fully burnt in the reentry and will not pose any damage on the ground, that is also confirmed by some westerner commentators (even on news net like CNN, the chance of being hit by it is less than killed in an aircraft crash, something like that).

ISRO is still trying to re-establish communications with the GSAT, so it's a tad early to draw conclusions. Anyways, just because the media is putting a ridiculous spin on things doesn't mean that one should do the same with India's space mishaps (which happens to everybody).
