China's SCS Strategy Thread

This is the embarrassment of the 'gray zone' in times of peace. The soldiers had to carry out limited actions under the foolish rules set by the upper echelons. From the facts, soldiers must engage in this seemingly endless game of hide and seek, but Filipinos obviously won't take the initiative to leave. So, will this game be played for another 100 years? What I hate the most is this boring political trick.

Boring political tricks secured the SCS without firing a shot.

“In short, China is now capable of controlling the South China Sea in all scenarios short of war with the United States,” Admiral Davidson said, an assessment that caused some consternation in the Pentagon.

But I suppose you hate success and would prefer to charge into war all guns blazing. Well not you personally, of course, since you would be safe and sound at home while others do the charging.

“他们要打多久就打多久 一直打到完全胜利!”
Perhaps in the eyes of outsiders, China is becoming increasingly powerful, but from the perspective of practical interests, it is a country that has not yet completed reunification and a large number of interests have been occupied by foreign countries. I don't think this situation can also be seen as a major power.
China IS a major power, whether your want it to be or not. Chinese government isn't omnipotent nor omnipresent, so a lot of your complaints have absolutely no basis. What China is good at is finding problems, weaknesses, and actually solving them. It is far better than any country its size at doing that. Thus, I urge you to stop your incessant complaining and have patience.

Why aren't you answering my question?

How would you have handled it?

If you can't even answer this simple question, why are you bitchin and moaning?

Don't you understand that he would simply make all the right moves and the enemy would collapse in despair and glorious victory would be achieved at no cost? Alas, nobody listens to him so this obvious solution will never be implemented. Tragic, really.

China isn't going to use sanctions unless there's an extreme reason for it. It's not the US, and it doesn't like using economic weapons willy-nilly. A bit of pushing around by the Coast Guard is a relatively measured response and it has worked quite well for the last decade and a half.
That's not what they did against Australia via banning beef, seafood and wine imports. it was quite effective and is far more unlikely to spiral into a international incident from casualties.

I don't know what the fuss is all about. Why are people acting like this is a shameful incident? There is nothing shameful in defending one's sovereignty, mistakes and all. Shit happens. Important thing is to learn from mistakes and build up to be a stronger force in the future. I don't think China is trying to "sweep things under" either. Just because they are not disclosing anything now, doesn't mean they are not actively working on a better solution for the future. It's not like this is Indian level stuff by actually announcing victory Indo-Paki war style.

Some people will always suspect that it's not "natural" that we seldom hear about accidents happening to Chinese military, but then same people jumping hysterically when an actual accident happening.

We both know General Secretary Xi is a softie compared to the rank and file of the Central Committee.

Any successor will in all likelihood be firmer than him about asserting Chinese sovereignty.
Outsiders keep forgetting that the CPC leadership is pacifist whereas the same can't be said about the 1.4 billion population.

Because filipinos cheering so hard, calling for escalation in China is stronger than ever.

And should the leadership insist on the "no gun" rule, there's a likelihood that they'll bring in vessels more suitable for ramming attacks...

After all, 056 light frigate is more a utilitarian boat.
