Interesting that the pictures were released so quickly, CCG higher ups must be really satisfied with the way the op went. Wonder if the will release a video later.

So, one fast boat harpooned the RHIB to pin it in place while two others double teamed it from both sides.

They even brought in some civilian lookie loos for extra emotional damage. Brutal.
In my opinion, I think the Galwan experience taught them a huge lesson. During that time, the Chinese were incredibly slow about releasing footage from the victory and let the Indians control the narrative temporarily. By the time the Chinese released the footage, it was already too late as evidenced by the sheer amount of denials and India’s later belligerent actions. The Chinese must have realized that the information void needs to be rapidly filled before the opposition can take control of it. Even temporary control can have negative consequences.

Lets be honest here, if China were to go up to an Island off the US coast and do the same territorial dance it would not be useless flag wavers facing it, but a tomahawk/hellfire missile. It's only asymmetric because Philippines is completely unable to respond.

See Argentina for an example of what a competent Navy would do against maritime militia activity:

You make it sound like china is the bully that only does this to weaker nations. And nations like Argentina can fight back?

The question instead should be, why the Phillipines continue to proceed with this farce when even the USN doesn't do it and stays the hell away. Why provoke a more powerful neighbour?

If the US did this to one of China's islands, they wouldn't be facing a bunch of useless flag wavers either.

Btw Argentina blew up a literal fishing boat thousands of miles away from China coastal waters, not maritime militia.

, we can construct a reasonably coherent idea of what happened on Monday which answers some of the lingering questions around how and why. The Filipino navy deployed six boats, two of which made it to the grounded wreck. Those two were rammed while offloading supplies and then boarded. The guy who lost his thumb had it crushed during the collision. The supplies included rifles in cases for the Filipino marines, which were confiscated.

This explains how the boats were boarded (a lot easier on a stationary target) as well as why the rifles were never used (they were supplies, not equipment) and how the most severe injury happened (accidental, not deliberate). All in all, I'd say it represents a well-executed operation by CCG which increases pressure on the Philippines without undue risk for lives lost or major escalation.

I find the Philippines amusing. no matter how much resistance they face, how much pressure from China, they just won't give up and STILL INSIST on supply missions to that miserable ship. why don't they give up? is it because the US has their back? is it because their belief that the US will help them and support them?

Plain and simple. Its all about money. Who cares about stranded boat in a middle of sea under scorching heat, 200 kms from land. Average Philipino problem is the same as everywhere else how to put food on the table. I bet those people at the frontline are doing it just to get extra $10 per day and lucky if they get $20.

Obviously this has been highly politicized in Philippines as politicians are masking real problems all philippine people are facing.
The bigger picture is the officials are cocking on the americans to do their bidding and stir trouble for China. You dont do that for free.

This video was taken from the BRP Sierra Madre.
In case there are still some delusions about what China's new maritime law is meant to do. The Pinoy soldier on the BRP Sierra Madre watched the Chinese CCG stab their special ops boats and take their food supplies right in front of their eyes. Supposedly the Chinese also used teargas #FAFO

Yes, CCG is targeting their food supplies exactly as I predicted. It is not attacking the Sierra Madre directly, and it is certainly not storming the ship the way certain others predicted. Fortunately, the evidence of reality washes away all delusions. June 15 was not the start or end of anything, no matter what any spectators wanted or wished, just another steady incremental step along the way. And I for one am glad CCG is led by careful professionals who know the value of restraint as well as pressure.

Also, various think-tank types are of the opinion that the US needs to "do something." Which is of course a key motivator behind CCG's deliberate restraint—forcing the US to awkwardly choose between underreacting or overreacting. Should be interesting to see how that goes. This contest is much bigger than one wreck on one shoal, after all.

Nothing to do with the Philippines but the current regime leader, Bongbong Marcos. USA got him by the ball.
His father, Ferdinand Marcos, embezzled 10 billion dollar from Philippines people and flee to the US.
The family wealth is at the mercy of the US government. He will do anything the US ask.

Not only him BUT whole family, that include the Romualdez, the Aranetas and Aboitiz. the whole oligarchy. All of them are beholden to the Americans as they were an extension of US imperialism, the enabler of the American policy here in the Philippines.
