Yes, many Vietnamese still have a hostile attitude to both China and Cambodia since the 1979 war. And with increased cooperation between them, some fear that we are in the same situation as in the 1970s, with enemies on 2 fronts.
Perfect talking points to heighten tension in the region. You can expect 3rd parties to fan this narrative further. More thinking along these lines will only cause trouble and bad blood, which is unproductive for Vietnam's development.

Vietnam will need strong decisive political leadership to guide its people to a peaceful accomodation with Cambodia and China so all 3 countries can maximise economic cooperation + wealth creation. The recent purges are a step in the right direction to regaining control of the political narrative and eliminating unpatriotic elements. A true leader of Vietnam must know how to balance the tension with China - Vietnam must co-exist yet maintain its autonomy vis-a-vis China to be successful.

Countdown before a Western-educated Vietnamese "Guaido" announces he is the rightful ruler of Vietnam and the party must be deposed. If such a plot ever succeeded, expect Vietnam to follow the path of Ukraine.

Chinese strategy in a war with the USA:
In my opinion, in the event of war with the US, the Chinese strategy would be similar to that of a bullfighter in a bullfight.
1-provocation: with the banderillas the bullfighter provokes the bull and makes it tire. It would be the most difficult phase but China could use its satellites to identify and target a task force sent to support some ally in difficulty. They would be attacks with hypersonic weapons beyond the second island chain that would be difficult to achieve due to the length of the kill chain, but the minimum achievable result would be to empty the US Navy's warehouses and wear down its operations from the start.
2-bleeding: when the bull is tired and the bullfighter has demonstrated his worth, knights arrive and sink their long spears into the animal's sides, bleeding and bringing him close to death. In this case, China would begin to heavily attack American assets on site, such as bases in Japan, etc., always with missiles and even air power, the attacks would be orders of magnitude more numerous than those of the initial provocation, the US Navy would be worn out in its logistics chain with little chance of response.
3-lunge, final victory: the bull is now exhausted and stunned, it has no chance and yet it is the most dangerous part, the bullfighter ideally with a powerful thrust of the sword reaches the heart of the animal, piercing it, the animal collapses dead. China in this part should welcome American ships and residual ground forces in full force by multiplying attacks by fully using aircraft carriers, submarine destroyers and advanced bases in the South China Sea. The American forces would already be feeling desperate and with little operations left, the Chinese forces would take care of cleaning up the remaining units once the aircraft carriers were destroyed. At that point the Americans could opt for a nuclear surrender or escalation, hopefully surrender.

Option at all phases for china is to initiate to target with conventional hypersonic weapons continental usa (san diego) and hawaii in case usa commencing targets mainland china.

Please Dear Lord, help us take ownership of this uninhabitable islets that those Godless commie China is trying to steal from us your God's chosen children. Let the power of the almighty smite those unbelievers so that we maybe able to brag another battle of Yultong (it's getting stale lord) and may your chosen defender of your faith, the American Angels and fathers to our out of wedlock Pinoy children can also go to America and become American citizens. Also, let them marry and pro-create with our Filipinas so that one day they can become celebrities. But most importantly, let us show the Chinese Communist that we are so much better than them because we're Catholic idiots.

Such tiny ships could be countered with just helicopter downwash I reckon.

There are three Z-9 on station with the PLAN ships, but as with last time they may have to call in some heavy chopper to help.
China already did that last time, everyone wants something novel. What about animals? Does China have a military marine animals program? I think sharks would be hard to train, China might have to settle for dolphins:(
