They already have Mr. Wolf, why else would Duterte be "flexing his mouth"??? China recognizes a political ally when they see one, Mr. Duterte recognizes that he can "insult" a long time friend of the Philipines, and the Chinese will likely put him on the payroll, he gets lots of perks, sells out the folks worried about China's aggressive expansion, and becomes China's "boy wonder" on a string, with perks of course!

Same things been going on in Chicago for over a century, LOL!

Interesting that you are accusing Duterte of being corrupt. The US had no problem with PH being a cesspit of corruption for decades, but up comes the first leader to try to clean things up, and he's being demonized by the western media and lectured by the US administration.

It's things like this that make people realize where the US' real interests lie.

I doubt China engineered this. Reading the news you can see the Philippines is being used as a patsy by the US and others in Asia. Singapore is said to be the mastermind of the Pivot to Asia and now its come out that Singapore was also the one pushing the Philippines into action against China at the UN. Everyone prodding the Philippines to do this and that to China have a greater stake to lose with China. So get the Philippines to do it for them. Everyone else is too afraid China will punish them economically if they act against China. Japan acted out early on when the US tried to form a united front between the US, Japan, and South Korea against China. Japan was dissatisfied by the US not confronting China to their liking so it decided to play nationalistic games sure to irk South Korea. Japan and the Philippines acted out because they had no confidence the US will be there for them when it counts. That's why China has really nothing to worry about the US forming an alliance against China. Getting a bunch of ultra-nationalist Asian countries on the same page is like herding cats. The US doesn't have the money to make them all happy nor do these countries want to be treated equally with others in the region. They each want to feel special above the other. Someone is going to get the raw deal and that country will ruin any plans by the US.

it's pretty hard for the US to deal with a loose cannon like Du30 because he's quite a character. he's crazy but he's got balls. the US takes the Philippines for granted because they were always a puppet and in control but then comes a guy like Du30 who calls Obama ''son of whore'' and he talks to John Kerry and tells him ''your ambassador is a gay son of a bitch". Du30 is a good man who wants to do good things for his country but i'm afraid one man cannot change a whole country. as for China, she just got 4 years of time (assuming Du30 doesn't get assassinated or regime changed by you know who) to consolidate her position in the SCS. this is a godsend for China because we know how much China can do in 4 years.

In the Philippine, the president only serve one term of 6 years .... I will be surprised if DU30 wouldn't get impeached during the period. All my Filipinos friends love him, I think he is doing the great thing for the country

Actually I did not accuse him of corruption, I did say that China no doubt has made overtures to Mr. Duterte, who apparently doesn't appreciate Obama's meddling in his internal affairs. (BHO has been a very poor representative of American interests around the world)

I'm just saying that China is taking advantage of that rift, to up their game.

It is a concern that Mr. Duterte has resorted to extra-judicial killing to manage the drug problem. That's a dangerous turn of events for all Filipino's IMHO????

Yet the PH people themselves overwhelmingly support this. Perhaps they know better than anyone else what it takes to fix their country?

You and I both know that's not going to happen at the hands of the US Gov! while I agree that Saddam Hussein and his two devil children Udea and Cusea, ( I have a good friend who was a contract nurse in Iraq during Hussein's reign of terror), needed to go. I am vehemently opposed to every element of Obama and Hillary's "Arab Spring".

I have Filipino friends as well, my own Dr., who is by far the sweetest, kindest, most caring human I know in the medical profession. My dear old DAD, upon learning that our Air Force Dr. on Okinawa, had lost his Mom, my Dad clandestinely had him and his family waiting on the tarmac down near the Cat Terminal, taxied down and picked them up and personally flew him to the Philippines. When Doc was ready to come home, my Dad flew back and picked him up.

My point is, my family has never taken our Filipino friends for granted, my wifes OB/GYN when Mollie and Baxie were born, invited me to join him for lunch, while my wife was in labor, and we had a very interesting conversation about how he became a DR. So No, most Americans do not regard Filipino's as anything less than friends and comrades in arms, if Duterte sell this close friendship out, which he no doubt will, the people of the Philippines will at some point miss the close fellowship and friendship that we have cultivated in our mutual goals and objectives.

Many users think it's anti-US revolt or something like that going in that country. But that;s not the case. Duterte just tries to stablize the country and see how it's going as it's probably impossible at the moment. And his aim isn't becoming a friend with China but getting as much money as he can on temporary warming the ties with Beijing. The same thing happened (to extreme I must write) in South Korea - during recent Park's presidency there. Milk Chinese money as much as they could and in the end become the same as her father's stance against China becoming best friends with US and Japan on the military side once again.

Many users here wrote how good it's for China - but none of it was China's doing. So don't be so much excited about that. It can turn around soon. After the money flowhe can write his name on schools and highways after his term comes to an end. And China is more than willing to do the move as it showed with South Korea recently. They're more absorbed in the next party's meeting than anhything else at the moment on the tops of Chinese leadership.

Don't worry, Janiz. The Chinese are much more pragmatic than your side. And South Korea will experience there own Duterte-like rebellion against the US because like the Philippines realized they'll see how they will get the raw end of the deal.
