China's SCS Strategy Thread

Indeed.
China and USA is basically wresting over dominance in Asia without direct confrontation. Washington and Beijing know they are codepedent. Both will flex muscle and show off. China will dominate, while USA will continue to sail in SCS. The losers are mainly Vietnam and Philipines, they just dont know it yet.
Agreed, and you brought up a good point on smaller states being losers; regional states probably want some friction between China and US, because it gives them a bit of room to maneuver and play both ends against the middle. Once Washington and Beijing reach modis viendi, then the smaller states lose whatever independence to colluding great powers.

Should China bring up India 's Andamen island and nicobar island to defend its SCS claim.

It's from Java island chain and very far From Indian continent. It clearly violates any UNCLOS, 200 EEZ and there's no history of owning it except inherited from British. How come no one said about it?

Because Andamen and Nicobar islands are not disputed. India owns them. Full stop.

China & the US are expected to stand firm on their current South China Sea strategies. Hope there will be solutions to the problems as no one benefits. No one in their right mind wants hostilities in the region, as there will be no winners.

Well said. I think China and US are awkwardly prancing around, because they're still learning how to deal with each other. Beijing says SCS is "core interest," and US says freedom of navigation is "core interest." So, unless both sides give and take, things will get nastier before they get better. To complicate things, neocons dominate both governments, so there's absolute no give by either side. Until America gets another Reagan at the same time China gets another Deng, the best we could do is status quo and no conflicts.
