Mushtaq Motors to start vehicle manufacturing with the Chinese company KYC, a part of Changhan Group....


The Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP) has allowed Khalid Mushtaq Motors (Pvt) Ltd (KMML) to set up a vehicle assembly and manufacturing unit in Nooriabad industrial area under the greenfield investment category.

KMML Chief Executive Anwar Iqbal said the company has signed a technical collaboration agreement with the Chinese company KYC, a part of Changhan Group, for assembling light commercial vehicles and mini passenger vans.

“We will market the vehicles with the brand name of Mushtaq,” he said, adding that the total investment of the project is around Rs1 billion which would create 200 direct jobs.

The company has planned to assemble vehicles from second quarter next year.

The plant has the capacity to roll out 100 vehicles per month.

He said the auto industry is blossoming and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will also open new avenues for the growing automobiles industry.

According to the industries ministry, the local partner will strictly adhere to the conditions laid down in the notifications.

The company would enter into an agreement with the ministry to ensure compliance to the conditions and various timelines for completion of the project for availing incentives under the Auto Development Policy 2016 .

The Engineering Development Board (EDB) shall issue manufacturing certificate and list of importable components to new investors after it verifies that the assembly facilities established by the company are adequate to produce roadworthy vehicles...

Ministry of Industries and Production and KIA Lucky Motors inks agreement...

KARACHI: An agreement between the Ministry of Industries and Production and KIA Lucky Motors has been signed here in Islamabad here on Monday.

The agreement has been signed for production of Light Commercial and passenger vehicles under Automotive Development Policy 2016-2021.

According to the sources in the Ministry, the company will invest $ 115 million for setting up an automobile assembly plant in Karachi that will produce a wide range of commercial and passenger vehicles.

Source further said that this week Pakistani auto sector is taking a big leap with Hyundai plant inauguration in Faisalabad tomorrow and KIA Lucky agreement signed already. The new auto policy announced last year is finally bringing fruits to the Pakistani consumers.

The Korean auto giant KIA Motors is a favourite brand in GCC, US and European markets. KIA website shows products range from low-cost hatchbacks to luxury sedans, from crossovers to SUVs, most of them with plug-in hybrid variants as well.

The new automobile policy is attractive for new automaker participants in Pakistan’s growing car market. The news of new entrants Nissan-Renault, Hyundai and Chinese FAW along with KIA is encouraging for Pakistanis who so far, are relying on three available local assemblers. The lowest in the region, domestic car penetration of 13 vehicles per thousand persons is also offering an open plain field for the new auto manufacturers...

Shanghai Electric will invest Rs 900 billion in Karachi, losses in the last 7 years have dropped from 35 percent to 21 percent, 62 percent of Karachi city is cleaned from load shedding, Rs. 51 billion, Consumer liabilities are Rs 97 billion.

The meeting of Public Accounts Committee was held under the chairmanship of Syed Khursheed Shah in which the financial accounts of the Electricity, Cabinet Division and the Governance were reviewed. In the meeting, in addition to the members of the committee, the senior officers of the concerned institutions attended. Electricity of MD told the briefing of the committee that traveling from KESC to Electric was difficult, while the loadloading was very high, the institution's performance was not satisfactory.

Referring to the measures for improvement of electricity, he said that the total investment of 160 billion rupees under contract was increased, capacity of Bin Qasim plant has increased to one thousand MW, electricity production is currently 1000 MW. Electricity made 13 extra grid stations, but he said that Konda culture had come down but it could not be completed. He said that insulating cables are being used to control theft. In the past 7 years, losses have gone down from 35% to 21%, free changes are being taken to the old poor materers in Karachi. 350 billion rupees will be added to the system during next 7 years. Shanghai Electric cooperation agreement is in approval. Shanghai Electric will invest Rs. 9 billion in Karachi.

The MD said that electricity is responsible for 51 billion rupees, while electricity has to get 97 billion rupees from different institutions and consumers. Member of the committee Dr. Arif Alvi said that there is no obligation in Karachi, no load shedding should be made for bill collectors, on which the Electricity of Electric told that there are line handles and stolen in Karachi 21.5 percent.
