Indonesia has a lot of vulnerabilities. Both economic, political, and from being an island archipelago vulnerable to maritime powers.

Say whatever you want about Biden and Trump but they did manage to have a bunch of countries to join their military build-up cause. Japan and Australia first and then the Phillippines and PNG. This is no big deal for China. But this still requires extra military spending.
PNG was a response to China's move on Solomon Islands. I assume that China had already taken into account this sort of US response when it made the Solomon Island move

for the Sheikh Hasina Submarine Base built by a Chinese company. The base can berth six submarines and eight surface vessels at the same time. Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal, Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Navy, presided over the ceremony. In attendance were Chinese ambassador Yao Wen and defense attaché Du Xinsheng.

Would be nice if China's polar fleet can be on rotational/semi-permanent basing somewhere close to/within the Arctic Circle.

Could use one or two Russian bases in the region for the purpose.

Saves a lot on logistics and promotes greater China-Russia cooperation in the Arctic Circle in the ever-intensifying scramble for dominance in the Arctic against the US-led NATO.

With the addition of Sweden and Finland to NATO, all arctic states with the exception of Russia will be part of NATO. With this in mind Russia could benefit greatly in cooperating with China in the region.

Certainly an interesting article to read and ponder about.

Chinese military conjures world war Z scenario of all-out conflict to test and evaluate new navy weapons

- Assessment of weapons has focused mostly on combat capabilities in a regional conflict but the PLA is now factoring in a ‘total war’ scenario (designated Z)

Some (slightly-edited) key takes:
The Chinese military has recently added a “total war” scenario when testing and evaluating the performance of new weapons as the risk of military conflict between China and the US reaches its highest in decades, according to scientists involved in the project.
Total war means all available resources and efforts of a nation are mobilized towards winning the war. It involves not only the military but also the civilian population and the economy, such as occurred in World War I and II.
... But in Z, “there is a clash of strategic willpower. The regional conflict (over Taiwan and/or South China Sea) escalates to a total war”, said the team led by researcher Fang Canxin of Unit 91404 in China’s People’s Liberation Army.
More Chinese military researchers proposed bringing the war to the US homeland if it could not be avoided. ... But the idea of bracing for a total war has not been standard thinking in the Chinese government, according to some public opinion leaders.
The fate of a warship can be negligible to the overall cost of a total war which could include the loss of millions, or even billions, of lives and extensive damage to infrastructure such as cities, transport systems, communication networks and industrial facilities.
If nuclear weapons are used, the war could also cause lasting and detrimental effects on ecosystems, agriculture and the overall environment that could lead to food shortages, genetic mutations and higher rates of cancer and other diseases.

China's Twin Tailed Scorpion UAV attack, review. The Chinese army has published footage of exercises with the use of airborne weapons by the Twin Tailed Scorpion A strike UAV. The Tengden TW 328-A drone is an enlarged version of the TB001 UAV, the drone has added a third engine and has a maximum takeoff weight of 3250 kg. The UAV has seven hardpoints, three of which are triple or double. The UAV uses an extensive arsenal of missiles and bombs, including the TL-2 air-to-ground missile, FT-9 and LS-6-50 precision bombs, Blue Arrow 7 and Blue Arrow 11A anti-tank missiles, GB laser-guided bomb -25 and the YZ-102A bomb. The maximum flight range of Twin Tailed Scorpion A is 6000 km, autonomy is 35 hours, service ceiling is 8000 meters.
