China Takes home World Sniper Cup. 2011

Nineteen countries took part. If there was any form of cheating, the other teams would have come into the open and level their accusations. So far, we have heard from just one guy.

The more "usual" news I heard about this kind of "small circle events", were more like "Chinese team didn't get proper instruction of the game, and have to rush to the game already.." or, "Everyone has been provided certain tools for certain excercise, but when comes to Chinese team, the event orginizer always 'out-of-stock' to provide..."

So... everything changes to the opposite side, when China became more and more "superpower-ish" hah???

Like any other Chinese, I don't bother to find out "who's making this accuse?" and "Is there WMD in *** country or not?" kind of farce..

This kind of BS just simply making us freaking stronger, that's all I saying.

Probably when the first time Chinese took part they got pwned, then 3 years later they made shocking comeback, and not losing much steam this year made them jealous...

The allegations sound like pure BS.

For example, the accuser said he saw marked and unmarked holes on targets when they moved up, if that was the case, why the hell didn't he just present the target to the judges right there and then and demand to know what was going on? If he had a case, he would have pressed it there and then instead of only bring it up after when there was no way to verify it. Not the actions of someone with a legitimate case.

The night shooting example made no sense. Poor trigger control? From one or two top snipers would be unlikely, from most of the Chinese team is ridiculous, especially when you have seen how they train. Seemed far more plausible that the instructions were not made clear and they decided to scrub the event as the results should not be so affected by a mistranslation or communication error.

And the points deduction is just hearsay.

As others have already pointed out, this is a frigging sniping contest, you either hit or you miss. It is far more plausible that some racists in the event couldn't stomach the idea of loosing to the Chinese with their 'poor quality knock off rifles' and started spreading BS at the event and made the mood bitter.

But with the kind of outright racist attitude displayed by the vast majority of posters on the site where the allegations were posted, I would not be surprised if the story morphed, into 'oh, those Chinese boys were just shooting blanks and the judges punched the holes on their targets for them'.

The poster alleging a 'culture of cheating' by Chinese also has no idea what he is talking about. There are cheats everywhere in every country and race. To make judgements on culture based on a few observations is plainly ridiculous. Besides, his examples are just of individuals, there have never been a pattern of cheating by Chinese teams at international events, even far more prestigious ones where the results matter far more than here. Loosing is bad but fine and ultimately even expected in China, cheating is infinitely worse in the eyes of everyone and unforgivable.

The only pattern I see is of right wing racists not being able to stomach the idea of loosing to their 'racial inferiors' and coming up with any pathetic excuse to help alleviate their 'shame' from loosing to someone not white. I bet the same BS would be coming up if an Indian or Pakistani or African team had won.

******g Chinese always cheat. They can suck it.

As a Chinese American, I can confirm there is definitely a culture of cheating. I was lucky that my parents taught me to not follow the bullshit, but it was not uncommon to see classmates and my mom's/dad's coworkers bribe authority figures to get their way. I've even been approached by the parents of kids I've tutored to take SATs/ACTs for their kid.
I don't immediately accept TRG's claims as 100% truthful, but I am certainly not surprised if they were.

He seems 100% Chinese to me:p

What a load of s###, every human being is prone to temptation. You can't point one country saying it's prone to cheating, and say its part of their culture. My mates cheat in their exams, and they copy of others, and guess what country I'm from Australia mate.
Go look at the Olympics and see who has the most cheating scandals in olympic history, it definitely is not China but the current superpower.

Sounds like sour grapes. All of this sounds like any comments to any news story on Yahoo News when China comes up.

And the worst bite might be this: back in 2008 when Chinese team get pwned everybody knew China is behind the world standard by 20 years (that's according to the Chinese team's leader), but in 3 years they did more than merely caught up...no wonder they can't believe it.

Bottom line is that it is an amazing achievement with the Remington, if they used a Chinese rifle, that's just gravy on top, and may well stir up a lot of international interest for the rifle. Wonder how American gun nuts would react to a Chinese made rifle being the one to win the sniper world cup. :p
As An American Gun nut Here is my comment on this,
First Remington 700 is a top of the line weapon as been and still is one of the best in the world.
Second If the Chinese used a indigenous designed then good for them Chances of import in to the US low as low can be, Canada maybe. that stated one thing I feel should be pointed out is Even with Optics it's the shooter that pulls the trigger A Mechanically accurate rifle is not what makes the system effective. I Remind every one of Finnish Lance Corporal Simo Häyhä, aka "Valkoinen Kuolema" (The White Death) he took 705 Russian targets 505 with a Iron sighted Bolt action 200 with a SMG.

Until I hear about a Formal complaint every thing seems legit some the Chinese team pulled of some top shooting.

Why would a Chinese made gun have difficulty being exported to the US? I could understand if it was an automatic weapon, but it's a bolt action sniper rifle. Considering you can buy elephant guns and anti material sniper rifles that use HMG rounds freely in the US, really can't see what the problem would be other than the rifle being Chinese.

The Chinese bolt action rifle is the 5.8mm one, and regardless of the US shutout of foreign-made guns to civilian market, the exclusive caliber alone would make export anywhere rather...difficult, to say the least.

For one, while the gun is labeled as an "export model" it's real purpose is to entice domestic (law enforcement, PLA ultimately) orders; secondly on a technical standpoint it can be re-chambered for other calibers but it'd change the performance and other characteristics as well.
