I'd say an extremely good decision from a social perspective. Private tutoring increases the financial pressure on couples and promotes inequality. Banning it would make the children happier and may increase birth rates. Also, in a lot of places tutors don't pay any tax at all.

I'd say the children will be more rounded and adaptable as well, instead of studying all the time.

Plus if all children are aiming for same path, there simply aren't enough spaces in society for them. There has to be more pathways and endpoints available in life.

As I said before, China needs to lift childbirths restrictions in NE, Shanghai, Beijing, and many provinces with very low fertility rate sooner than provinces with higher fertility. In addition, poverty alleviation needs to go overdrive to forestall any resurgence of extreme poverty for many low income family who plans to have big family.

They are talking about lifting restrictions by 2025.

This is just too slow to make any difference.

Can you imagine if instead, they did that in 2005, or even 2010? There is a simple word to describe whats happening with the demographics now:

Disaster

Lifting restrictions won't be any use if people don't have the time, money or space to have children.

Look at how low birthrates are in the West, even without any restrictions.

What is required is affordable housing, shorter working hours, childcare subsidies, etc etc
Even then, birthrates will only go up so much.

AI solves all these so called problems... There is no demographic issue at all actually...
If anything, China population is still too high and should think about ways to have a max age cap not to drive up the pop of the youngsters

I posted the English version report from SCMP and I was actually unaware that this same top spy catcher is the one being alleged by the wishful American Jai Hind as the high level defector. I know am pretty new and largely ignorant to a lot of the PLA military improvements so I wasn't aware that China is now capable of human cloning and or teleportation. Good lord have mercy if this is the case, then the west days are over.
