The Flanker is an almost 40 years old design at this point. While it could be kept relevant with upgrades, it would likely be more cost effective in the long run to replace them with J-20 aircraft. Which use Chinese weapons systems. With all components made in China.

The more pressing issue would be dwindling munitions. With the exception of MK2 Russian flankers are not compatible with Chinese missiles.
Yes, but I haven't seen a PL-12 on any J-11 or J-11A.

Not likely to be PL-12. The shape of the fin is identical to R-77.
I could be wrong on this but I always thought that orange color scheme on a PLAAF missile indicate a training round for air to ground missile. This missile has orange band near its seeker head section.
Could this be a training round of R-77P passive radiation homing missile?
Indeed. The difference in position is quite visible. There's another image of that J-11 with the yellow striped missile.
I am not completely sure that's a R-77. Even the nose shape seems to be a bit off, when I try to compare it with R77. (of course perspective plays a role there)
I think MKK still has plenty of russian air to surface munitions left.
