Maybe not what you were looking for, but I've found one (no. 87) that took part in an exercise on 2022/01/19 -

of J-20 at 1:18, there is a split second showing a J-11 with number 6(1)325. The 2nd digit is not clear, can someone give a second opinion. 61325 would make sense as it would be located at Anshan.

Funding was cut for RnD, and import was encourage under Deng era.

Hence the famous quote " why make yourself, when you can buy?" RnD funding esp for military was resumed as soon as Jiang came onboard.

RnD? Are you serious?

Most Chinese barely survived during 1970s! Deng had to squeeze every penny he could to save the economy.

Without success of Deng's economic reform, Jiang would not have been able to fund RnD.

Wow  said to be only a J-16 assigned to "an aviation brigade with the air force under the PLA Western Theater Command" during an aerial refuelling exercise but this seems to be a Batch 09 J-16 since it looks like cn. 0905.

Strange however is the serial number, which looks like either 70596 or even 70996, what would correspond to the 98th Air Brigade at Chongqing-Shashiyi. But this would be a most unusual high individual number for this unit!

An argument could be made that an employed rocket scientist should deserve more consideration than a mere street vendor in the context of one's contribution to the nation even during difficult times. Deng chose his priorities while making sacrifices in other areas such tech developments, allowing PLA to engage in commercial activities.

IMO, Deng's legacy is just as controversial as Mao's, if not more so. It's not a stretch to say that younger generations of Chinese could probably have a more balanced view of Deng in the coming decades. Remember, British public used to have great admiration for Margaret Thatcher.
The view of each past leader changes with time, we cannot judge what the older generation did to survive based on the consequence of current age and society, what we should do under logical assumption would be to summarize what could have been done or what was done at the right time causing the right consequences that benefits the country more, and use said history to enrich our modern methods of approaching new challenges diplomatically, domestically or economically, so please end of discussion

Does 98th share a base with 99th? If so maybe the number reflects aircraft at the base rather than just 98th Bde? Anyway 9th batch, how many -per batch do we think? 30?
