To the contrary, the redundancy and safety factor they provide allows the MFD to be as avant-garde as they want. They don't "ruin" the cockpit, they make it possible.

I am actually glad the good old analog dials are there. It provides an added saftey measure. Nothing like those goold old hardened analog dials.

Like the speedo or RPM gauge in cars. I prefer the markers and needle as oppose to digitized on the dashboard. I guess I'm old school like that!

Yes, those digital displays are not nearly as "intuitive", I particularly dislike the "attitude gyro digitized", I'll stick with analogue thanks, but we KNOW I'm old school.

New rumors from pb19980515 regarding the J-11D project:

有极大可能转为技术储备。。今后的歼20与歼16搭配作战要形成一套战术 技术系统。它的某些技术可能转移到歼11B的升级。

Summary (please correct if wrong):

• There is a high chance of the J-11D becoming a "technical reserve" - not sure what this means but someone who can read can help out with the translation
• The J-20 and J-16 will form a complementary tactical unit
• Some of the technologies developed in the project might be applied to current J-11Bs

You pretty much nailed it. J-11D will probably not go into production but its technologies will be firmly in AVIC's knowledge bank and may be used to upgrade J-11Bs.

Tier 1 aerial combat capability will hereafter be provided by the J-20 and J-16 pairing.
