Newly released pic shows J-11B carried the unnamed long range AAM PLxx in last year's Red Sword exercise.

According to a paper, the range of this missile flies at a speed of Mach 4 to 5 with a rhythmic? stratospheric atmosphere of over 300 km, over 30 km. After firing, it will rise to a high altitude of 30 km or more, beat the enemy above the radar detection blind spot, and then hit at a high speed rapidly.

Heard that they simulated nailing AWACs at around 250KM. Really impressive with all things considered.

Quick question for those of you in the know: can long range missiles be used reliably against fighter-sized targets? If not, can they at least be used as a tool of harassment at long range?

The article which talked about the missile concept did have a graphic where the F-22 was on the receiving end of the missile.
Whether the real weapon now is capable of intercepting a fighter sized target at range is unknown, but I think if it is indeed equipped with reaction jets on the sides like the original concept depicted then it may be possible, especially seeing as by the terminal phase the missile should have quite a bit of kinetic energy to work with.

huh? of course you can have LR AAMs. The AIM54 was a prime example although as far as reliability is concern no one can ascertain.
The few that were actually fired in anger never connected however in test they destroyed their targets over considerable distances.
From a technological standpoint there is no reason why LR AAMs is not feasible to produce.

To admit, even if it seems so, but looks as if the radome is no longer canted, I'm almost sure it is a J-15.

Even more since that J-16 '1613' image is already more than two years old; it's from the 11. May 2014.

IMO it seems as if this again is nothing more than a repost of old images randomly put together.

Where are the canards?

Su33/J15 canards are on the same plane as the main wings, so they can be hard to make out in a shot like that.

If you look closely, there does appear to be a slight colour difference where you would expect the canards to be.
