China's indigenous carrier-based fighter, the J-15, has completed landing tests on the country's first carrier, the Liaoning, state media reported yesterday.

In a sign that the carrier could soon be operational, the tests took place on Tuesday during a 19-day period of sea trials in the northern Bohai Sea that began on November 11, Global Times reported. The J-15 also completed touch-and-go take-offs and landings during a sea trial last month, with a prototype touching the carrier's deck without coming to a halt, People's Liberation Army Daily reported at the time.

The Global Times report was soon picked up by Xinhua, other media and military enthusiasts.

The last picture is nice, why? It clearly shown J-15 can have its wing folded.. I find it ridiculous some slayer keep demanding picture of real J-15 to have its wing fold. Even without this picture, there is no doubt J-15 can have its wing folded for CV operation and storage.

Of course, they'd do it in the Northern Bohai Sea.

True but I think the ones in blue primer which are probably production batch or SBP using WS10 will also soon be flying off the deck if not already done so

It's a controlled way in which releases its information one step at a time

Though this is off topic, I like China is also using the color system for carrier staff

No its not, we have discussed this and it is in fact an important aspect of CV-16 ops, bd in particular called this before it happened and I'm sure he can answer most of your questions. Welcome to the plan carrier thread. AFB

... but somehow a bit disappointing that they are CFTE planes - in yellow primer - instead of proper naval aircraft.

Not at all the yellow primer is likely zinc chromate, an outstanding protection for the airframes against a very nasty environment, with salt and pollution close to shore. It is also very visible for filming and photos, control surface deflections etc, etc, are visible and very important, the standard naval grey/blue is supposed to dissapear, and it does. At this stage of the game all this data and aircraft position and configuration is paramount, it will go away soon enough, but for the above reasons I love it, it very much appeals to the aviator and aerodynamicist latent within the AFB!

. Is it just me or does it look like the J-15 is using AL-31F instead of WS-10A? Its hard to tell from the video, so if someone could confirm/deny this, it would be greatly appreciated.
