i expect a relatively small production run at first. 30, 40 planes tops. that should be some 2 batches, going on in 2013. and 2014. Then the production line may switch to j16. Then, as new, additional carriers get built - which may be near the end of the decade, more j15 may be built alongside j16.

My own theory is that the F-60 or a similar carrier based stealthy aircraft, will be launched with the first indigenous carrier, ramp or catobar, and that may well be concurrent with further J-15 production. Brat

That sounds about right. My guess is that it will probably eventually get up to close to 100 or even more when they get 2 or 3 carriers into service. Even when the next generation of fighter jet becomes available, the flanker platform could still be part of the air wing.

As for J-16, I'm expecting 3 to 4 regiments based on what I've been reading on Chinese bbs. That would mean around 75 to 100 aircraft.

It's a J-15 you can see the tailhook and you can even see the canard if you look closely.

Sorry to be misleading, but (to admit) that this is a J-15 was more than clear to me ! ... I was only questioning if it is in fact a new bird maybe from the first serial block or even an older image I maybe have missed.

I think a mini serial production of J-15 may have started... Probably 6-8 operational already produced. I don't think they can afford the prototype to sort out all the problem before going into serial production. Actually, the J-15 can do all the land simulation to sort out 95% of the problem going to encountered..
