J-11BS flew?

S stands for "twin-seat" not for strike btw.

So I am not really sure it is the right name for a "Chinese Su-30MKK multirole fighter bomber equivalent".

Interesting to see if it has that big vertical fins or not.

Just a quick question. Is there any technical difference between, say, the J-11BS and J-11BSH? Or J-11BH and J-11B? Other than paint color, are these planes identical or do they have some slight changes in instrumentation?

I'm sure there are differences other than paint color. :)
The designation may not be fixed yet, some call it J16, some J11-XXX.
The difference between J11BS & this new one should be like between F15D & E or the SG more specifically since they claim it'll have AESA and souped-up WS10s, maybe a little stealth enhancement.

Great, more speculations. Let's just post the pictures when it becomes available. Until then, speculating on SAC projects only lead to months of waiting. J-11BS is already in service, so whatever new project they have would have to the speculated J-16. Again, let's wait and see.

90% of the time there would be no point of having a forum is we didn't speculate. Photos of new jet designs only come out once a year on average. If all we did was post them when we got them, it would sure make things awefully boring.

There are photos that come out of CAC every week. There are also new photos of flankers every week. This is not 2005 anymore. I don't particularly get excited about every new flanker variants that SAC has reportedly cooked up. So, people follow these "big shrimps" religiously on Chinese bbs and critically analyze CGs. I mean it's not like we don't have photos of real aircraft to talk about.

.... but I want to what's on these rumours, which are actually ranging from a more or less simple J-11BS-development (what I expect most) to a super-duper semi-stealthy Silent-Flanker (what - honestly - I can't think of) ... and I'm surely not the most patient one too. ;)

Besides that for the modelling fans out there ... a preview of Trumpeter's new 1/72-scale J-11B (including the TH) !!!

Hey all. I've been following this thread for only a short while but from what i've been reading, the flanker design is a default design.

The SU-30MKI and SU-35 are much more agile with thurst vectoring engines.
How would the home made flanker fair up to those other planes? Is the chinese design ultimately outdated?

Thanks guys.
