Exercises would normally seem a reasonable explanation. But I have never seen planes in a transverse position among the pillars of the aircraft shelters. Besides, all these crates around and even cars, that looks definitely non-operational.
If the pictures are from Lianyungang, they have certainly built a row of shelters neatly numbered 02, 03, 03, 04, 05, 06, etc., which were not there when GE last updated the airfield 05.04.10 - where there were still 30 J-6 in the northern group of alveoles.
Personally, I am pleased when I read about new orders for AL-31FN engines for J-10 - now standing at 499 in all.

The original post had mention about LYG, but there is no real conclusive proof that this picture was taken from there. Either way, PLANAF 8th division is not located there.
btw, how did you get to 499 AL-31FNs?

You may be right, I too found it hard to believe, but there it is, if Russian press reports are to be trusted.
When the 2005 order for 100 was signed, they also included an option for a further 100. This option was taken up in 2007, so you have this clear picture: A new order every two years.

In July 2005, China concluded a contract with arms export monopoly Rosoboronexport for the supply within the next two years of 100 AL-31FN engines from Moscow's Salyut plant with an option on another 100 engines.
In the summer of 2007, China exercised its option by signing a new contract for another 100 AL-31FN engines to be supplied within the next two years.
If not, there would also have been a gap between deliveries 2007-2009, which does match J-10 prodution in those years when lots 04 and 05 were delivered.
Also, an initial order for 9 prototype AL-31FN for as many prototype J-10’s should be included.

I'm not sure about the exact lots and don't tend to use what huitong publish as facts. But I do know that they basically didn't produce any new J-10s for good parts of 2008 and 2009 because they ran out of AL-31FN. All of the major deals got suspended because of the entire IL-76 fiasco.

Just out of curiosity, what are those tea sessions like? Is it like an arrest?

"Invite you for a cup of tea" is another term of "Detain you for 48 hours" in China. While you may not ends up charged, you were to be questioned, during which, tea is (most of time) FOC.
To the topic, information security breach kind of suspect of offence, all your optical and digital equipments are throughly inspected and re-format, your self-claim of innocence would be recorded as evidence for future (if any) breach for perjury (because if you plea confess on the spot and cooperate, they won't actually charge you any heavy offence but clean all the leak information and give you a wholeday re-education).
There's a slight difference between "are you being detained by PLA security guards, or PSB?" PLA do better infomation screen (they toast your equipemt); PSB do better re-education (they got free tea).
